Cologne-based Reclay Group is a globally active conglomerate of companies in the field of environmental and waste disposal management. With its numerous specialized subsidiaries, Reclay acts as a consultant and full-service provider for manufacturers and distributors of packaging, for whom it organizes exemptions from the take-back and recycling obligations of the Packaging Ordinance. Founded in 2002, the group offers a unique recycling management service portfolio: from advice on all operational and waste management issues to efficient and legally compliant packaging disposal and recycling.
We were asked to optimize the existing company website with content for three countries in two languages. Set in the Typo3 CMS, the site was very complex, but unfortunately set up and programmed amateurishly. After reverse engineering the structures and the source code, it was clear that a new CMS basis had to be established as the inadequate code documentation would have paved the perfect way to a bottomless pit with incalculable costs for updates on the site. Every single technical change or new developments within the website code would have cost a lot of time and money. After the first review and in consultation with our customer, we decided to first create a one-to-one copy of the template and the structure based on a new CMS that better suited our clients current and future needs, "Joomla!“.
Subsequent projects included the continuous upkeep of the content (news, product launches, newsroom, etc.) as well as technical maintenance of the entire system, including the prevention of hacker attacks. We also advised our client on their continuous plans to develop their company website into a consistent digital brand presence. We created various microsites, conversion pages and landing pages for marketing. Ultimately there were 1,500 pages, each with specific content, template and a system structure for six countries in four languages.
